Kids Help Line is Australia's only free, confidential and anonymous, telephone and online counselling service specifically for young people aged between 5 and 25.


Womensline (1800 811 811)

Womensline is a free, confidential telephone counselling service available to women, children and young people.  It is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, providing a range of services and links to support, including temporary refuge arrangements.


Mensline (1800 600 636)

Mensline is a free, confidential telephone counselling referral and support service for men.  It is a Queensland wide service that currently operates between the hours of 9am - 12 midnight, 7 days a week.

Mensline offers professional counselling and information, and acts as a strategic point of referral for Queensland men around issues of:

  • Domestic and family violence
  • Relationship problems and separation issues,
  • Men's health,
  • Child support,
  • Family law issues,
  • Suicide
  • And other significant issues for men.

Commonwealth Domestic Violence Hotline (1800 200 526)

The Commonwealth Domestic Violence hotline provides confidential counselling and support for anyone affected by domestic and family violence.  The service is available free of charge, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.


Lifeline (13 11 14)

Anyone can call Lifeline. The 13 11 14 service offers confidential generalist counselling, 24 hours, 7 days a week.

Some of the issues that people call Lifeline about include:

  • Family and relationship issues
  • Mental Health Concerns
  • Suicide Prevention and Support
  • Abuse and violence
  • Loneliness
  • Life direction

Lifeline is a fully confidential service. You can tell a telephone counsellor as much or as little as you want to. Volunteer telephone counsellors will listen, support and guide you.


Child Care Information Service (1800 637 711)

This service operates from 8.30-5pm, Monday to Friday.  It provides free state-wide information including contact details for local child care centres, advice on how to choose a child care centre and other general child care information.


Family Relationship Advice Line (1800 050 321)

The Family Relationship Advice Line is available from 8am to 8pm, Monday to Friday, and 10am to 4pm on Saturday, except national public holidays.

The Family Relationship Advice Line is a national telephone service established to assist families affected by relationship or separation issues.

The Advice Line provides information on family relationship issues and advice on parenting arrangements after separation. It can also refer callers to local services that can provide assistance.

The Advice Line is for anyone who is affected by family relationship or separation issues and difficulties. This includes parents, grandparents, children, young people, step-parents or friends.


Victims of crime counselling and support service (1300 139 703)

Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, the service offers professional counselling and support to victims of crime for the cost of a local call.


National Association for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (NAPCAN)

NAPCAN seeks to resource and network child welfare professionals and practitioners working to prevent child abuse and neglect from happening before it starts, through the provision of parenting brochures, training, support networks and information.
